With friends like these...

Ever had a roommate like this..? I have. In the most literal sense actually. The only guy I've ever lived with is in this short, and happens to also be the funniest f*cker I've ever met.

Well played guys. Well played indeed. Now hurry up and make more!!!

Alexander McQueen

I was driving down Melrose yesterday and passed the Alexander McQueen storefront. It got me thinking about his shocking suicide back in February, and how someone who is so incredibly talented, surrounded by and adored by the most elite and powerful, and pretty much seems to have everything you could ever possibly want or need...felt that he had nothing at all. Nothing worth fighting for. Such an obvious example of how money really can't buy happiness. If that were the case the richest people would also be the happiest, right?

His last collection, shown in Paris 4 weeks after his death:

This last one is my favorite. Never really been the kind of girl who daydreams about what her wedding dress would look like...but in my book whomever chooses to wear this is the most legit girl on the block..

I think I like it so much because it reminds me of this...

Deserted LA

Happy Memorial weekend! Traffic in LA always sucks the Friday before a holiday weekend. Everyone's trying to get the hell outta dodge at the same time. But once everyone leaves, it's nice to cruise around with a traffic flow that's probably pretty standard for any other city.

Imagine what LA would be like if there were no cars at all...

All would be well in the world...

If everyone took the time to do a little of this everyday:

You make me feel so real.

"Sometimes darkness can spark creative sides that sunshine can't. Use it. Get into it. We can't only color with our favorite colors...Our favorite colors would then get short and break."-Tashina Suzuki

I've been on such an emotional high for the last ten days or so that feeling normal almost feels like a come down. But then again, what's normal? And who get's the job of defining it?

Goody gumdrop goodness!!

Oh man...

Hey Bobby, remember when we were in 9th grade and the local news came to our school because you killed the neighbor's dog with a plastic fantasy gaming sword dressed like an emo twihard wolf..?

NYC stylin' and profilin'

I've just come back to real life from a week long whirlwind trip to NYC. The first half of my trip was to witness the nuptials of 2 very dear friends. The second half of my trip was a stab at building up an east coast clientele. It was me with a backpack filled with hair tools vs. the subway, doing house calls in all different neighborhoods and getting a feel for what commuting and living in NY is all about. I will be uploading pics as I get them organized and developed...but first I really wanted to share with you 2 songs that forever will remind me of marching with the masses up, down and all around that magical place called Manhattan.

Get ready for a heart chakra explosion at the 3:22 mark...

I'm definitely in a feel good electro pop mood these days. La Roux fits the bill perfectly...

At this point all my energy and focus is being put towards doing whatever it takes to be bicoastal. Before this trip I'd not had the opportunity to fall in love with New York the way everyone around seemed to. Now I get it.

I feel so much love and gratitude for all the the epic, cinematic, serendipitous and joyful moments this last week brought. And for all the people that helped make it a reality. A trip this good only comes along so often...I'm so overwhelmed with happiness...NEW YORK I LOVE YOU!!! I'll see you again in August!

STYLO

What can I say? It's the Gorillaz. It's a car chase. And Bruce Willis is still bad ass.

Die Antwoord

If you and I have had a conversation about music in the last 6 months, chances are I brought up Die Antwoord. Their music errs on the side of tweeker tunes, so you really have to be in the right state of mind to enjoy it. But for those mornings that a little too much coffee has been consumed they're pretty money. For me it's the whole package that blows the mind. I'm still not sure if they're for real or not, and if it's the latter it's pretty genius performance art.

Let's start with this little impromptu taxicab performance...

Yolandi and Ninja: They're supposedly from a pretty poor neighborhood in South Africa yet have the most up to date ironic fashion nailed. Their sound is 90's techno house blended with hip hop and their debut album $0$ is produced by Hi-Tek. (WHAT?!)

Ninja is sleazy in a Terry Richardson kinda way. 6 foot plus, 2 gold incisors and covered in stick and poke tattoos that are so bad they've come full circle and are good again. He's the guy that pops up unexpectedly in a sex dream and you are so ashamed to admit it to anyone because it's obviously SO WRONG that you might be attracted to him on a subconscious level.
Or maybe that's just me.

But the real star of the show is Yolandi Vi$$er. She's like a sexy little South African alien baby. Getting down with the ladies isn't really my scene, but if it were this tiny dime piece would be my steez all the way.

I even cut my hair to look kinda like hers after my obsession started to grow. No lie. And with names like Yolandi and Chevonne, how could it not be a match made in heaven? We need to be best friends.

How old do you think she is??? 12? 21? 35?

We may never find out. And they may be really awesome comedy actors who never break character. The rumor is that Ninja is basically South Africa's Ali G and that all his tattoos are fake. Real or not, either way they are the most unique and talented duo I've heard or seen in a long time.

Here's one for the pervs I hold near and dear.

The bitch is back.

And this time it's not Elton John. I've been blogless for 5 months now and at first it was great. I felt like I had one less thing to worry about, which at the time was exactly what I needed. But then as I continually came across super rad dope media I felt a little lost as to how to catalogue and hold onto it. Making lists is kinda my thing, so as it turns out lookwhatifound was my art. Like virtual sculpture. Kinda. Ok not really but you get where I'm going.

For my opening ceremony post, this song is what's up...

Welcome back!!!!!
