Winter Ball 09

On Valentine's Day this year I went to a winter ball at the Alexandria Hotel. Downtown LA has so many historic old buildings that are barely being used. How about this random wing we stumbled upon? Beautiful corridors and rooms just waiting patiently to be rediscovered...

Who's gonna save my soul now?

This song pretty much nails the desperation that comes after a breakup and don't you love how the poor guy calmly breaks down the psychology?

I get it now.

This answered so many of my questions about Donny and Marie.

Here's the original. If you aren't patient enough to watch the whole thing then skip til the 4 minute mark and watch til the end.

Paul McCartney is always a guarantee to put a smile on my face!

I'm sure it's not as easy as it looks.

I found it!!!!!

I saw this about a year ago and have been looking for it ever since. You're not even ready for how cool this is...

You can check out more of this guy's stuff here.

All together now.

How come this kinda stuff never happens when I'm around?

Mark Ryden

I heart him. I just bought his new micro portfolio but I haven't quite decided which ones I'm going to frame yet. The collection of 15 prints is called "Bunnies and Bees."

Yesterday I was with my friend Maggie and I asked her if she knew about him. You know what she did? She lifted her shirt and she has TWO of his paintings as tattoos. TWO!

My friends are cool like that.

ISSE Show

Once a year there is a gigantic hair show at the convention center in downtown Long Beach. It's where hairdressers, estheticians and nail techs don their finery and go to peruse the newest, latest and the greatest and to buy buy buy. My favorite part is the people watching.
And yes I did approach these strangers and ask to take their picture. I explained that I was doing an art project based on the correlation between fashion and hairstylists. It's not completely a lie.
