A different kind of people watching.

Take a portrait. Every single day. For one year. Most of us don't have the motivation but that's what Mercedes McAndrew is doing and has a blog to prove it, limagequotidienne.blogspot.com.

I love people watching and sometimes get caught staring...

I like to make up stories about where they're coming from, where they're going...

I think there is a voyeur in all of us...

Photos of strangers posted online is a great way not to get caught!

Holy crap.

Yep, this pretty much sums it up.

But it would be an extra wonderful bonus if I could have both!

Cover art.

I work part time at a book store. Did you know? It's called Book Soup and it's the most amazing independent book store in the world, smack dab in the middle of LA.

The cover of a book is a lot like the label on a bottle of wine...it can really make or break the deal in terms of peaking your interest of what's inside. Here are a few of my favorites from covers.fwis.com, a website dedicated to....
you guessed it...

book covers.

From top to bottom: Hundred Hit Wonder, author - K.I. Borrowman, Everything You Know, author - Zoe Heller, Dry Storeroom No. 1: The Secret Life of the Natura, author - Richard Fortey, Strange Flesh, author - William Logan, On Seeing and Noticing, author - Alain de Botton, Leather Maiden, author - Joe R. Lansdale, How to Cook Your Daughter, author - Jessica Hendra

Unintentionally hilarious.

Yes, I am a democrat so I'm a bit biased on this one, and to be fair I'll acknowledge that unfortunately there might be as many uninformed Obama/Biden supporters out there, certainly enough to make an interview montage. But still...why would you step up to the mic with the cameras rolling when you know you aren't sure of the facts?

COME ON PEOPLE!!!!

Something we desperately needed but never knew it.

Don't quote me on this, but I'm thinking this just released Muppet's cover of "Bohemian Rhapsody" may have something to do with the anniversary of Freddie Mercury's death, which happened November 24, 1991.

This is for real?!

This past Sunday in Japan (of course), game user (and virgin forever) Sal9000 married Nene Anegasaki, a character from the Nintendo DS simulated- dating game Love Plus in a real-life wedding ceremony officiated by a real-life priest in front of a real-life audience.

I can't...I'm not really sure what to...

And people are worried about same sex marriages..??!

Thanksgiving Dinner.

Ever had one like this?

Today I am thankful for...

my family
my friends
my strengths
my weaknesses
my job
my dogs
my freedom
my health

and you!

1901

One of those songs that gets stuck in your head and simply refuses to leave...

and here's a wonderful acoustic version...

And I’ll be anything you ask and more
You’re going hey hey hey hey hey hey hey
It’s not a miracle we needed
No I wouldn’t let you think so..

Happy Tuesday!!

Opinion reconsidered.

I've never considered myself a fan of plates as wall decor til I saw these photos on an interior design website I frequent. I was so inspired I thought I'd share...

A modern take on something very old fashioned. So pretty!

An apple a day...

Keeps the doctor away.

When I saw this neat poster/calendar/whatever I got really excited. I think the idea is great, especially for kids when they need a little extra incentive to eat healthy food. You peel the variety sticker from every apple you eat each day and attach it to a square. At the end of a year you have a nifty piece of personal art and it's a great Christmas gift idea at only $25 from feltandwire.com.

Let's eat more apples!

yes yes yes

If this movie is half as good as the trailer then I think we're all in luck. Cast includes Daniel Day-Lewis, Penélope Cruz, Judi Dench, Nicole Kidman, Marion Cotillard, Sophia Loren, Kate Hudson and Stacy Ferguson. Phew!

Look at meee!!!

So here's the new Guy Sebastian video featured Jordin Sparks. Look closer...does someone look familiar? I make a bit of a cameo at the beginning of the video with Jordin. I'm famous y'all! Well...sorta. Oh, and for those of you who aren't sure exactly who Guy Sebastian is, he's an Australian Idol winner. He performed at the Australian Idol season finale this year with this music video playing on a big screen behind him in front of thousands in house and maybe millions at home. I'm sure for the most part everyone is watching Jordin and not so focused on me, but I wonder how many girls in the audience or watching from home were watching what I was doing and thinking that's what they want to do when they grow up...

Just another day at the office. ;)

Stay Sassy.

Of all the things that eventually break down in the human body, I hope my sense of humor stays the most intact...

Shechive.com has some really great photos. In the header of the site it says "Cures boredom. May cause pregnancy." I agree with the first but geez I hope not the latter..

Now THIS is how it's done.

Yes, that too.

Things of beauty.

Gimme gimme gimme..

But where on earth would I wear them??

Flash Mob at the Grove

This one's a little more on the mob side than flash, but the cool part is that Miss Jackson if you're nasty actually makes a surprise appearance...

Another brilliant blog...

So we all need a little guidance from time to time from someone a bit wiser who has been around the block a few times more than us...right? I'm talking about old people. My friend Seth has started a wonderful collection of interviews from interesting seniors giving life advice. It's great...almost like having cyber grandparents on demand. you can fast forward, pause, or replay something said that hit you hard. He includes a small bio with a bit of back story and leaves the rest to them. Sometimes they're hilarious, sometimes they're insightful, but they always have something to say worth hearing...

Please take a few minutes to check it out. lifeadvicefromoldpeople.com
